Stranger Things fans are on the edge of their seats waiting for a much-delayed fourth season, and the show’s executive producer Shawn Levy has now weighed in on how the show might end – and if we can expect the conclusion to come with the fifth season.
In an interview with Collider, he and the show’s creators – the Duffer Brothers – both have an “end in sight”.
“There is a plan and that too will be shared,” he said. But when it came to divulging when we’d be finding out more about this ending? “Not quite as soon as a sense of when season four is coming out, but soon enough.”

After the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns pushed back plans to film season four of the sci-fi, Stephen King-inspired thriller of a Netflix Original series, the writers behind the show were given plenty of time to ponder how things would end. And Levy has been quick to stress that lots of thought has gone into it.
“I can say this: ‘No, one’s making it up as we go along and there is an endgame, if you will,’” he said.
Another big question on our minds is the possibility of spinoffs when Stranger Things does eventually come to an end. While Levy remained tight-lipped about the specifics, he teased that conversations about taking elements of the show forward are “not non-existent”.

“What’s been made clear is there is an interest and a real voracious appetite for any offshoot, any other iteration format or extension of the franchise, the characters, the mythology,” he said. “And certainly those conversations are hardly evolved, but they’re also not non-existent.”
The Duffer Brothers’ return to season four as series creators has been called a “multi-year film and series overall deal”. So Hawkins might even be coming to the big screen. The possibilities (as well as the sheer volume of monsters and 1980s hair cuts) are endless.
