While the traditional ‘Big Four’ fashion weeks consist, of course, of New York, London, Milan and Paris, the super chic Scandinavian cities are fast-becoming the go-to for style inspo.
This week it fell to Copenhagen to stage its spring/summer 2022 showcase, and while the runway undoubtedly showcased some seriously epic trends (more on those later) that have already got us wishing away winter, the street style set undoubtedly stole the show on more than a few occasions.
Scandi style may be renowned for its minimal aesthetic and penchant for neutral tones and timeless staples, but it seemed this season it seemed all attendees got the same memo: the world needs to rediscover the joy of fashion.
And rediscover the joy, they did. In what was the most vibrant display of street style euphoria that we’ve seen in several years – and we don’t just mean those years dominated by the pandemic – guests arrived for runway after runway donning looks that themselves wouldn’t look out of place on any catwalk. If there was ever something to distract attention from the brilliance of the collections on show, it was the outfits sitting front row.
10 Scandi trends straight from Copenhagen Fashion Week that we’ll all be trying out for AW21
From full fuchsia looks to pastel colour-block knitwear, tie-dye, sequins, head-to-toe prints, bold florals, unashamed animal prints, neon yellows and clashing greens, metallic silvers and OUT out heels that we’d almost forgotten were a thing – there was absolutely no shortage of sartorial inspo on show. And during a time in which so many of us are struggling to find the motivation to ‘curate’ a ‘lewk’ after eighteen months spent in various forms of loungewear, it couldn’t have been more welcome.
If you’re looking for something to reignite your love for fashion and get you out of that post-pandemic wardrobe rut, look no further.
