Struggling to transition from tracksuits and loungewear into real-world-appropriate get-ups? We feel you. It’s tough. It’s overwhelming. And it feels a bit unnatural. Luckily, British-born designer Zandra Rhodes – best known for her hot pink bob and for dressing the likes of Princess Diana and Freddie Mercury – is here to help you feel inspired. Yep, Zandra has teamed up with reigning Queens of the summer dress, Free People, to design a capsule collection of print-adorned pieces that are sure to solve any summer wardrobe woes in an instant. And you’re going to want *everything*.

The collection was born over two years ago (!), when Free People’s Creative Director flew to Zandra’s London Bridge studio to begin delving into the designer’s print archive. They together identified four mood-boosting prints which each serve up an injection of the optimism we’ve *all* been needing of late – pair perfectly with Free People’s adored bohemian silhouettes. Think biker jackets, floaty summer dresses, kimonos and maxi-skirts.
There’s a star print that was inspired by Carnaby Street back in the 1960s, an Aztec print which nods to the designers’ early trips to Mexico and a shell print which was first created back in 1970. The result? A carefully-curated eight-piece collection splashed with Rhodes’ archival prints from the past 50 years.
“Thrilled to announce our exclusive 8-piece collection with the incredible @freepeople ⭐️,” Zandra wrote to her devoted Instagram followers. “We delved into our archive and pinpointed four standout prints inspired by Zandra’s travels which complimented Free People’s signature silhouettes to create a capsule of eight timeless pieces that unapologetically infuse high fashion with a more relaxed style – a perfect mix of minds.”
47 summer dresses that will be all over your Instagram feed this summer
At 80 years old, Zandra still works 12-hour days – and has continued to do so throughout the entirety of the pandemic. In fact, she’s spearheaded a number of collaborations of late, including one with IKEA and one with Happy Socks. That said, this beautifully boho capsule collection with Free People has got to be our fave. Run, don’t walk. It’s set to sell out.
